Our Story

Thalassophi comes for the Greek words Thalasso (sea) and Sophos (knowledge). We take knowledge and inspiration from the magical healing properties and beauty of the earth’s oceans and seas.

We also believe that a stay by the ocean or even a mere view of the sea, can act as therapy and can help to reset and rebalance the mind, body and soul. When we speak of Thalassophi we also speak of Thalassotherapy.

Thalassophi was born out of our combined love for the sea. We were lucky to spend summers bathing in the warm waters of the Caribbean or exploring the turquoise waters of the Greek Cyclades. The memories are etched in our minds forever, and the love for the oceans, seas, and the communities that thrive on them has never left us.

Thalassophi is our way to enable you to also share these remarkable and unforgettable experiences in the world’s most memorable and beautiful stays.

Thalassophi pledges to donate a portion of its earnings to the environmental conservation of the Earth’s oceans. We are dedicated to purer, cleaner, plastic-free, and healthier oceans and seas for all wildlife and humanity.

Why Did We Launch Thalassophi?

Once upon a time, we used to rely on the recommendations of others to make a vacation booking. Some of those grand recommendations were hyper-inflated, completely non-existent, and indeed horrendously wrong.

This is where Thalassophi comes in. We select, shortlist, and vet the best vacation stays, providing a source of the most carefully selected rental homes worldwide.

Thalassophi is not just a booking platform for vacation rentals. It's a resourceful, informed source for vacation rental quality. In the noisy world of fast vacation rentals online, we decided to address the problem of unsatisfactory stays and act as a guide for quality. For each location and experience, we leverage AI, deep research, and feedback to procure the most extraordinary stays—the 5% of exceptional properties and experiences. Those that have already been reviewed and assessed meticulously, so you don’t have to.

Restaurants have Michelin stars; hotels have star-based ratings, and vacation rental stays should be no different. We present only those properties that have the Thalassophi seal of approval. At Thalassophi, we don’t do ordinary, and neither should you.
